Tezuka Manga Competition | This time International and Online Submission Allowed

In Japan from last 50 years Tezuka Manga competition is organized for young manga artists, where they can show case their work. The competition is named after Osamu Tezuka who was a pioneer in manga history after the world war. This competition is held twice a year. And on the occasion of its 100th Anniversary, submissions are allowed from international artists all over the world. Traditionally this competition was limited to Japan only but this time there will be worldwide entries and you can even submit your work online.

This time judges for this competition will be:

  2. Eiichiro Oda (One Piece)
  3. Kazue Kato (Blue Exorcist)
  4. Kohei Horikoshi (My Hero Academia)
  5. Takehiko Inoue (Slam Dunk, Real)
  6. Tezuka Productions

Winner Prizes

  • Winner : 2 million Yen ($18600 USD)
  • Runner Up : 1 million Yen ($9300 USD)
  • Honorable mention : 500,000 Yen ($4,650 USD)

Work of the winner and runner up will be published in the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. And all the winners will get Invitation to a fabulous party in Tokyo where many great manga creators will be present.

If you are a manga artist or just do it as a hobby, we suggest that you should participate in this competition. Because you should never miss an opportunity. Even if your drawing level is not good, who knows maybe your story can get some attention.

Schedule

  • Entry Period: May 1, 2020 (Friday) to September 1, 2020 (Tuesday) Until 12:00 (Japan Time)
  • Results will be announced early December of 2020.
  • The award ceremony will be held at a hotel in Tokyo in mid December of 2020

Rules

  • Any genre is allowed
  • The story must be completed in one issue.
  • Manuscript: Horizontal reading, open to the right, monochrome only.
  • Number of pages: up to 55 pages.
  • Size: Not specified
  • Resolution: 600dpi or more is recommended
  • Languages: English, Spanish, Chinese (Simplified / Traditional) and Korean only
  • 2 works can be submitted per person.
  • Entrants can enter as a team.
  • You can submit works that you previously uploaded in a different website. (With the exception of works published in commercial magazines / commercial websites, or won other manga awards)
