8 Manga/Manhwa Where Hero Crave for Revenge

This list is all about revenge, revenge and revenge. If you are the type that likes the character who take revenge for the wrong doings instead of so-called forgiveness. Then you are sure to like Manga in this list.

Our main characters are all who have been betrayed by one way or another. But by grace of the Lord/Devil or whatever they got the chance to get back to the back-stabbers. Some are re-incarnated as another person, some are time travelers but one thing is same in their stories REVENGE.

Let’s have a look on what I have here for you. Hope you will like it. Keep one thing in mind this is not a ranking list they all are best in their own way. I am using number just for the list count.

Summary/Synopsis: So our hero Ukei Kaito followed every order given to him from the Royal Family and defeated the Demon Lord and saved the world. So far so good, but but but, it is a list of revenge manga how can it be good without revenge. So when he defeated the Demon Lord, Kingdom didn’t need him anymore. The Princess he trusted blindly showed his true colors (You gonna love her). All the companions that he’d trusted throughout his journey betrayed him and killed him by sticking a blade through his chest. It was then that he swore to himself. He swore that, if given another chance, he would no longer so rigidly cling to the concept of “faith.” He swore that, if given another chance, he would dedicate himself to enacting the most atrocious act of revenge possible. He swore that, if given another chance, he would do things right.

“I’ll kill every single last one of you… I swear it…”

And so, he died, leaving behind not but a series of menacing last words—but his story had yet to end. The real story of revenge starts from here. A voice resounded through his head and informed him that there was more to his fate than what lay beyond the grave.

Summary/Synopsis: I really love this one, it is one of my favorites. The foolish are conquered, and the kind are used—this is a universal truth that the hero Raul finally learns, with pain coursing through his veins and hands tied to a cross. Betrayed by the very humans he swore to protect, as fire consumes him and he takes his last breath, he swears vengeance against those who wronged him.

But even death offers no respite, and Raul is granted another chance at life with his power unsealed. All of the humans in the world are vile beings. From the sadistic princess who slaughtered those he held dear, to the soldiers who carried out her orders in glee, no one is exempt from Raul’s path of carnage.

An eye for an eye, Raul sets out to deliver his own form of divine retribution. For every inch of suffering inflicted on him and his loved ones, Raul will make them suffer tenfold. And so, no matter what it takes, he will have his revenge.

Japanese: 回復術士のやり直し

Alternate Name: Redo of Healer

Summary/Synopsis: Well what should I say about this. It is a story about healer who is betrayed by his fellow comrade Heroes. Unlike above 2 Manga where main heroes are betrayed after accomplishing their goals in this hero is betrayed from the start. He is a healer who is considered as alternate for recovery potions. He is drugged, chained, punished, abused and what not. You can call him the worst kind of character. But as time passes he was able to gain resistance for the drug and obtained some special skills in healing magic.

On the final battle with the demon king when other heroes were on the brink of death he refused to heal them and used his skill to defeat the demon king. The Demon King dropped a magic stone or something and he used it to reverse the world time or to say time reversal.

One thing I did not like about this manga is that main character is weak as hell in the start and to gain his skills he has to go through the same sufferings once more.

By the way this is a harem manga too and there is some nudity as well.

Japanese: ありふれた職業で世界最強

Alternate Names: Arifureta: From Commonplace to World’s Strongest, From Common Job Class to the Strongest in the World

Summary/Synopsis: This is a story about Seventeen-year-old Hajime Nagumo your average, everyday otaku. However, his simple life of pulling all-nighters and sleeping in school is suddenly turned upside down when he, along with the rest of his class, is summoned to a fantasy world! While the rest of his class are blessed with godlike powers and tasked with saving the human race from extinction, Hajime’s job, a Synergist, only has a single transmutation skill. You can also say that he is a blacksmith.

So in this manga all his classmates consider him useless trash (as always). So while training in a dungeon their team activated a trap and they are brought on a bridge, in front of them is a dangerous monster behind is skeleton army. Every team member starts fighting and retreat. One girl got stuck and Hajime helps him while covering for her. Guess what, at the same time someone from his team either got jealous of his heroic deed or saw a chance to eliminate him (not clear about that) and fires(magic) towards Hajime instead of monster. Result, he fell from the bridge to the deep down in the dungeon. Now he must do everything possible to get out from this dungeon and take his revenge from the one who attacked him.

Extra Info: This story starts about revenge but is not that tense. It is a harem story. There are comedic and funny scenes as well, because all his harem members are one of a kind.

Japanese: ハズレ枠の【状態異常スキル】で最強になった俺がすべてを蹂躙するまで

Alternate Name: I became the strongest with the failure frame “Abnormal State Skill” as I devastated everything

Summary/Synopsis: A high school student who lived as a mob character, Mimori Touka. During the school trip, he and his classmates were summoned to another world. According to the summoning goddess, so many best ranked heroes like S and superior ranked ones like A were very unusual. Touka, however, was the only with the lowest rank: he was an E-rank hero, in the “failure frame” of the stepped pyramid frames. So this mean goddess throws him into a dangerous dungeon where no one has come out alive. Like this, the former mob character and abandoned hero will absolutely become the strongest devil as he advances and strikes back.

To be honest this was my first Manga about revenge which led me to others. Thanks to this I was able to read some masterpieces which otherwise I would have just ignored.

Korean: 두 번 사는 랭커,두 번 사는 랭커

Alternate Name: Second Life Ranker

Summary/Synopsis: This is a Korean Manhwa. This story is about Yean-woo. Yeon-woo had a twin brother who disappeared five years ago. One day, a pocket watch left by his brother returned to his possession. Inside, he found a hidden diary in which was recorded “By the time you hear this, I guess I will be already dead….”

Obelisk, the Tower of the Sun God, a world where several universes and dimensions intersect. In this world, his brother had fallen victim to betrayal while climbing up the tower. After learning the truth, Yeon-woo decided to climb the tower along with his brother’s diary.

So in this story instead of main character it was his brother who got betrayed. But don’t worry cravings for revenge is not less than any of the above Manga.

Korean: 수라전설 독룡

Alternate Name: Legend Of Asura – The Venom Dragon

Japanese: 悪魔だった君たちへ (Akuma datta kimitachi e)

Summary/Synopsis: This is a story of 6 school friends, adults now, who during their school-days were persistently bullying one of their classmates. Suddenly though their quiet lives will be shaken violently when things they wanted to keep secret are coming out to haunt them! Is this the revenge of the bullied classmate and how far will he go?

From all of the above Manga/Manhwa this is the only one which isn’t a Fantasy world. It’s story based in the modern world. There’s a lot of psychological things (not ghosts) going on in the story. Be prepared for some gross things in-between and this Manga is above 18 because there’s sexual violence and nudity in it.
